Abu Hurairah
Established in 1965, Al-Masjid Al-Jamia Vancouver began as a cultural center for Pakistani-Canadians. Resting in the heart of Vancouver, Al-Jamia Vancouver served as the foundation for the Muslim community in British Columbia. Organizations like the BC Muslim Association were born from this location.
In the mid-80s the Cultural Center for Pakistan-Canada Association was converted to a Masjid and continues to operate as such today. The historic architecture remains amidst the changing landscape of downtown Vancouver. Al-Masjid Al-Jamia Vancouver now serves a diverse congregation of Muslims, many working in the immediate area. Every Ramadan, Iftar (breaking the fast meals) are offered every night. In addition, meals are sold on site every Juma (Friday congregational prayer).
Friday Salah:
1:30 pm - Jummah 1
2:30 pm - Jummah 2
Al-Masjid Al-Jamia Vancouver offers the five daily prayers along with Juma Salah every Friday. Prayer times correspond with prayer times in the Vancouver area. Maulana Sarfraz leads the congregation every Friday and educates and inspires with his khutbah (sermon) from the Minbar.
