PCA was established in 1963 by a small number of dedicated Pakistani-Canadians for the purpose of promoting the name of Pakistan and bringing, at that time, the small number of Pakistani-Canadians together. Significant dates from a cultural and religious standpoint were marked with dinner events, community picnics, entertainment programs and social gatherings. We now utilize our skills and funds to support social causes such as homelessness, hunger, elder-care, religious partnerships to name a few.
Since then the population has grown dramatically with estimates of more than 30,000 people that identify their roots as Pakistani living in British Columbia. PCA has shifted its focus from bringing the community together to representing the community in the mainstream. Issues related to elder care, religious tolerance, immigration opportunities, etc., have been highlighted by PCA and continue to be a focal point.
Pakistan-Canada Association is operated by a group of dedicated volunteers that serve the community through their time, effort, ingenuity and financial contributions.
Over the years PCA has established a unique position in the political landscape of British Columbia and has, on occasion, used its platform for advocacy and awareness for issues impacting both the Pakistani and Muslim community. We partner with like-minded organizations to ensure Pakistani-Canadians are represented and visible. Pakistan-Canada Association continues to evolve to respond to the changing landscape and will continue to be the leading advocate for Pakistani-Canadians in British Columbia.
